Save Michigan money. Save Michigan lives.

Two compelling reasons – supported by Republican, Democratic, university and independent fiscal and policy research – to expand Michigan’s Medicaid program. On behalf of Michigan taxpayers and employers who will receive about $2 billion a year from the federal government to pay for the expansion, and on behalf of the hundreds of thousands of uninsured Michigan adults who will gain health insurance, the Expand Medicaid coalition urges the state Legislature to join with us and Gov. Rick Snyder to expand Medicaid as states are authorized to do under the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA).

A Controversial Law with Undeniable Fiscal and Human Benefits to Michigan

There is no denying the ACA is a controversial law. But it is the law of the land, and it is here to stay.

Michigan and the other states now must choose whether to implement ACA provisions that will save money for state budgets and employers, and save lives by improving the physical and mental health of literally millions of adults who are currently uninsured and simply can’t afford coverage today.
